Fungi Culture Preservation

Fungi are crucial to our environment, culture, and economy, yet research lags due to culturing challenges. Preserving these species is vital. Cryogenic biobanking at -165°C is the best practice but often inaccessible for smaller labs. Our new research offers practical steps for creating economical fungal biobanks, proving the viability of 61 fungal genera in cryogenic storage. This can support biodiversity conservation and strain maintenance. See more about this research: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/00275514.2024.2363135
