The U.S. National Fungus Collections (BPI) in Beltsville, Maryland, are facing an uncertain future as part of the USDA reorganization.

This is one of the largest and most important fungal collections in the world ! Beyond documenting fungal biodiversity, it serves as a critical resource for identifying plant pathogens, protecting our food systems, and helping safeguard U.S. agriculture from emerging threats.
